Forth Valley LHB takes the lead for Scotland
2011-06-10
Forth Valley LHB have added InterpreterNow, the on-line BSL relay service from SignHealth, to the excellent face-to-face interpreting service provided by Sign Language Interactions.
Andrew Dewey, Managing Director SLI said, 'This service has the ability to break down communication barriers that Deaf people have faced for decades. The instant access to professional sign language interpreters from SLI ensures communication support when the healthcare professional and Deaf patient need it.'
The service supports calls to anything 'healthcare' so contacting dentists, doctors, hospital, opticians, pharmacies or seeking medical advice from healthcare organisations is fast and simple.
All the Deaf person needs is an internet-connected computer with a simple webcam - and SignHealth, the charity who developed the service, are giving away free webcams to Deaf people wishing to use InterpreterNow.
