Ten On-Line Interpreting Provider Partners for SignTranslate

The recent addition of SigningWorks in Bristol and Silent Sounds in High Wycombe, brings to ten the number of Sign Language Interpreting agencies that now provide On-Line Interpreters for SignTranslate.

Richard Durrant of Silent Sounds says, "Although we are a commercial organisation, we have a genuine desire and passion to help people. For over 10 years now, Silent Sounds have been one of the country's leading deaf communication services. We have a dedicated team of Language Service Professionals, all trained and experienced in their profession, and we take a real pride in our ability to understand the needs of the deaf community and provide the best service possible. Partnering SignTranslate is a fantastic new opportunity, and being one of SignTranslate's On-Line Sign Language Interpreting providers is very exciting indeed."

SigningWorks' Clare Reed says, "We set up after consultation with the Deaf and interpreting communities to provide our clients with a high standard of BSL Interpreting. We believe that being part of On-Line Interpreting with SignTranslate adds to our high quality range of services."

Phil Murden of SignTranslate comments, "It is great to have so many first rate agencies providing fully qualified BSL Interpreters for our On-Line Interpreting service. With such wide coverage of agencies now across the country, this increases the likelihood that a Deaf person at the doctor or at hospital will be able to use a local interpreter through SignTranslate's On-Line Interpreting. Of course any of our interpreters will be able to communicate effectively, but it can be very reassuring to see a familiar face at what can be a stressful time."

The other agencies whose interpreters also log in to SignTranslate to be available on-demand to help Deaf people visiting doctors or hospitals are:

Bid services (formerly Birmingham Institute for Deaf people),

Deaf Direct,

Deaf Connections,

Deafness Support Network,

RAD (Royal Association for Deaf people),

Terptree,

Sonus (formerly Hampshire Deaf Society),

and MSDP (Merseyside Society for Deaf People).
